DAY'S END
I've decided to dispense with my Day One, Day Two, etc., titles for three
reasons. First, it sounds too much like the Iranian hostage crisis, so
it's been done before, only more dramatically. Secondly, I can't keep
this up on a daily basis. There will be gaps- large ones I expect- and
the third reason is tied to the second. How will Adam and Tricia feel
when they see Day Two Hundred and Twenty-Two?
We've worked on the roof for two days and have made significant progress,
given the complexity of Adam's design. There are hip roofs (why isn't
it rooves?) and then there are the ones that Adam creates with skylights
that appear to be structural members. Anyway, we'd finally walked the
rafters, with their compound angles, up the main roof when Adam asked,
" Should I get your camera?" To which I replied, "Sure."
Then he said, "Is Mark Quiejo available this Saturday," or,
"Nail in this rafter," or something because the next time I
thought about the camera the tarp was already in place. But cut our foggy
minds some slack because this was a Saturday and we nearing the end of
ten hours.
Our plan is to finish the roof Thursday and Friday, then with Mark Q's
hel, install all the glass on Saturday before
dinner at the Schreibers at 4,followed by Molly's play.
