QUALITY HELP, BLUE SKIES AND TARPS TO MATCH

We worked all day with the capable help of, Mark, Adam's stepson, who knows little about construction, but is a quick study (successful first attempt with a screwgun which puts him in elite company), is indefatigable, knows much about property law ( I leaned about adverse possession) and shares my Food Nazi tendencie, but is not shy about voicing them - "It's not good that my sister now knows how to bake." He even attacked Adam's propensity for adding both butter and salt to his bagels, which made me laugh, but not out loud. Adam is, after all, the man writing my checks.

Anyway, we got a lot done, even though a watchful neighbor might not think so. We laid the second layer of ply on the floor, glued and screwed it, removed siding and sheathing from both sides of the door, and built the outside wall. Towards the end of the day, with much talk about rain on Tuesday, I drifted into the house to check weather.com. I smiled when I saw rain predicted for much of the day, and thought to myself, GREAT, a day off. After the previous week spent jack hammering impossibly hard, old pre cast steps, digging holes, filling them in, then pouring more than a yard of concrete, and working on Saturday, I'm already half dead. As I walked out onto the deck to announce the good weather news, Adam shouted, "Time to get the tarp up so so we can work tomorrow."

Mark Q, we'll see you Thursday!
