I decided it was time to re-read Raise High The Roof Beam, Carpenters
and see how the Glass family built their house. I also thought I could
grab some pithy quotes to spice up this abbreviated edition. As I began
the short story, my thirty-five year old memories of Buddy, Seymour's
almost wedding, and subsequent events tumbled back. Of course there is
no house, except the one alluded to by Buddy growing up in the Glass family.
I did find pithy paragraphs, such as this one, woven skillfully into the
story:
"There was something distinctly intimidating about her stare. It
seemed to come from a one-woman mob, separated only by time and chance
from her knitting bag and a splendid view of the guillotine."
More splendid views of work in progress:

Finished sheathing the roof, and like yesterday, I had to stop when it
began to rain. Plywood along
the peak will get cut-away the entire length for the ridge vent.

Nice sharp roof lines.

My brother in Hawaii wondered why it didn't look more like spring. Taken
in the front yard, this
azalea in full bloom.
