Godbless you, Flo … You’d been away from Frank too long, you sweet soul. I’m sure Di is happy to see you restored, too, and while your family will miss you, we’re glad your troubled times are past. Michael, Matt, Susan, all our love to you.
with death comes life, and with the passing of Flo, im sure she feels more alive then she has felt in years. May her spirit intertwine with the winds and carry her gracefully to the heavens.
What a great photo. Thank you for letting us know. I don’t (and I’m pretty sure you–Michael and maybe others don’t) exactly believe in an afterlife … but it is rather sweet to imagine somewhere out in the universe some Cannings gathering in their confirmation dresses.
My friend with ovarian cancer died a few weeks ago; the memorial service was yesterday. She had asked for it to be in a particular chapel which (as some of us suspected) was too small. We managed a few extra seats but there were still about 15 people standing. I swear I heard her laugh at us for not daring to overrule her wishes. A very different laugh from Diane’s, but similarly real, and infectious.
What a fine picture from the past! Little Flo must have been maybe 7 or 8, making the shot circa 1920? Could have been almost yesterday, given the quality of the photo–though no child wears such angelic finery today, much to our loss. Rest in peace, Flo.
