Nubble Light in the Snow

I knew better than to ask Diane to pose on that bench in the wind with the nearby pounding surf.

Fabulous! That little red house pops, the elements are palpable, and the curve of the cove and craggy coastline converge quite cooly … (sorry … ). Despite the static and stately subject, such a good ‘un is not a given — well done and thanks!

She knows better, but you don’t. You could have done a time-lapse of yourself. If Messner could do time lapses of himself soloing Everest….

(Just finished his book, Crystal Horizon. Interested?)

And what is that little red house that dominates/accentuates/enhances the picture, anyway? Did you go up to the lighthouse? It looks somewhat inaccessible without an ice axe.

Stunning picture!

You bet, send it on.

Unlike most lighthouses you can’t walk up and pet this one. Separated by water from the parking lot all you can do is take pictures. There is an interesting tram-like thing that conveys the keepers of the light off island and back. It looks like a bench swing hanging from a wire.
You think that red building is a pump house?

Here’s a surf pic:
