Chess Players

andy_me_chess.jpg

I may have posted this before (it’s gonna happen), but this is one of my favorite photos. That’s me on the left playing against  Andy Vince in 1972.  I was a fair chess player, but I almost always lost to Andy.

In the mists of time…
B&W was a good choice. It makes the picture look archival, almost like the ones in the Smithsonian daguerreotype collection.
(But my guess was, with all the wild hair, that was Peter.)

Mists, indeed … ! Evokes a smoke-filled room (someone with a massive spliff behind the camera, perhaps … ?). But somehow I would never have imagined such barberless antidisestablishmentarians to be chess mates — too “official”. Heckuva image, though, thanks!

No wonder Matt’s long locks don’t phase you at all. Apples don’t fall far (although lately he’s been as clean cut as Beaver Cleaver.) Did Diane sanction your ’72 scruffiness?
