Night Climber

Joe, with Matt’s encouragement,  decided to trim some branches off the tree in the yard near the driveway.  Use a ladder?  Are you kidding?  Wait until daylight? Why?

I’d be more surprised if I hadn’t already seen this still-cut now-ex-wrestler clamber up into a notable Grok Hill tree to help Mike and I remove a downed tree from atop the cabin in Gilsum a few years ago. The ease demonstrated then (in his “prime” … ) obviously translates to the less-well-lit present. It’s good to have friends like Joe. No images of the aftermath … ?

Adam, you’re such a good writer; what’s with the “to help Mike and I …” (Rule of thumb; if “… WE” doesn’t sound right then “x and I” isn’t right either.)

Ohmigod, what’s my problem? Oh, yeah, school’s almost out and I won’t have a bunch of 6th graders to correct for a while. Gotta take it out somewhere. And get rid of that gum while you’re at it!

Wow, Joe should try some rock climbing! I’ll bet he could do an “on-sight” of a 5.10 route.

And is Joe available for some Cottonwood tree climbing here in our yard? We’ve got some nasty-looking loose branches that the recent 90-mph breezes left dangling about 30′ above our house last week.

Free room and board here for Joe and co. any time he comes out here and demonstrates his muscular rope climbing.

So Jennifer, what would you use instead? If he used “us” how would we know who was with Adam? Sorry, but this is one of the many goldens I have always taken umbrage with.

(And yes, the ending with a prep was intentional. My way of giving the finger to my old English teacher.)

Hmmm… You could say, “to help remove a downed tree from atop the cabin in Gilsum when Mike and I chickened out of the job.

Hey, wait a minute, I never heard about this. Got any pictures?

Ahh… I see. Now that DOES make a lot more sense. (Comically.)

Only this to which you refer in another post.

“Chicken” might not be the right word. How about physically unable.

What’s wrong with “me”? (Not to be confused with “What’s wrong with me?”, which I do NOT wish to know.) I mean, “… to help Mike and me …” Of course I want to know with whom Adam was on that occasion.

OOOOO Pick me!! I know!!

I know what’s wrong with you. You think the world is your classroom and it’s your job to educate everyone. You are extremely talented at what you do and it’s clear that it’s your passion. Occupational hazzard, that’s all.

But I kinda like not worrying about that stuff here. It’s hard enough putting myself out there for all to comment on. So if you notice my grammer or punctuation mistakes, don’t tell me. “I” do not wish to know.

How about spelling mistakes? Did you leave that option out purposely?

(Cluck, cluck, cluck) Chickened? How about smartened?

I left it off intentionally. I don’t make spelling mistakes.

HA! I can’t even type it with a straight face. Remember I was on the bandwagon to add the spell checker to this blog.
