Home For The Holidays

Southwest is late – again – but this time hirsute Matthew arrives in a much better mood.

  1. Did I detect a preference for a “Hi, how are you?” and maybe even a hug from a person over a camera lens?

  2. We shook hands politely and with renewed respect.

Matt met the two college students (Behind him as he enters the frame) while waiting at the gate in Philly, and then they all sat together.

“She’s a sophomore at Villanova and he’s studying meteorology at Millersville University. Why wasn’t Millersville on my list of random colleges?”

  3. What a nice homecoming…whole family there. Lucky Matt.

  4. Again with not answering questions, Mikey!

  5. I’m not always sure what the questions are.

  6. Yeah, but what was your excuse this time? …
OK, so maybe it was a little oblique. I was asking whether Matt was a little put off by being videoed by you instead of having you make more personal contact with him.

Matt, is Millersville in a village by that name? Sounds like a good place to move after college.

  7. Did anyone try to catch you while you were video taping? You were obviously trying to get a layout of the airport so you could use it against the government YET AGAIN.
I’m so glad you guys are hoooome! I’ll be home on Wednesday night, hopefully. Kisses, and see you soon!

  8. im very jealous of everyone now in acton while i die of boredom at my parents house haha. and i love the videotaping, good work! it always makes people (or maybe just me) feel sufficiently awkward after walking off a plane into an airport full of people and then seeing that red light looking you in the face and the video that inevitably comes up on the blog the next day 🙂

  9. Maybe Michael and Diane could try an experiment. They’ve already done the “control” part — umpteen airport trips after 9/11 with video camera without a headscarf. Next time (how much do you want to bet it would be the last?), Dianne can wear a hijab. And then Debbie at least won’t have to worry about ending up on the blog the next day, ever again.

  10. Let’s see some more shots of the bearded guy in a couple of weeks! (Will the chin feathers survive Acton?) Been reading about Temple in Google News. Sounds like they’ve got some spectacularly good teachers there. Hope Matt has been absorbing some of the great intellectual treats (as well as other ones).

  11. I was leaning over the second floor balcony thinking of taking a movie of the Manchester’s vaunted security operations, but then I got distracted. Matt’s plane, an hour later than what was announced when we left home, gave me plenty of time to fiddle. And, Jennifer, Diane’s a poor sport when it comes to participating in my shenanigans.

Matt shaved the excess and left his moustache and goatee. I have to say he looks marvelous.
