So, that’s Birdbrain’s hand? How do you all know that? I tried to decide whether it was mine — because clearly I was talking about the metric system — and I couldn’t really tell. (Glad to know it’s not mine.)

Moving party is an oxymoron. Just as I’d have to be a moron to show up that day. Of course, you know I would if I hadn’t already committed myself to brunch at the Kibbe’s.

I totally approve of moving parties. (My father taught at Smith until I was 10. Every year he invited a few students over for a crisp autumn afternoon “work party” and they raked leaves and helped put the garden to bed for the winter. Of course, he and my mother had met at a Quaker “work camp” when they were 15, building houses in a precursor to Habitat for Humanity.) But I doubt I can be there. Anyone for a paper grading party? (How hard can it be to throw them on the stairs and record where they land?)

And the next moving party is Jan 4 in bountiful Bowie MD (correct you calendar, Michael). All are welcome down here in the sub tropics. Beer, wine and left-over sandwiches for all. Free electric lawn mower, last used December, 2006, to be given to the first responder.
