No Gore

So … I might be able to catch up on my movie watching after all! With enough willing editors, YouTube could post every movie ever made in 3 minute format, and then anyone could watch 40 a night, with bathroom breaks, for what it now takes to watch one. Brilliant!

No Gore indeed. Didn’t expect that lovely clip in the middle of my afternoon. Very nice.

That’s about it for videos, but I do need some blog help. What happened to all my contributors?

Wish I could contribute, but text-only is where I’m at right now. Here in cicadaville (hear them munching on our phone line under the back yard?) we’re down to something like 10 bps. We can connect to google (Yay Google! Low bitrates work fine!), to gmail (same), and even to APOD (amazing, amazing).

But for us, Mainecourse hangs between No Gore and Comments, somewhere in Youtube land. Even comments are hard to reach.

Other link-rich and ad-infested sites like Netscape.com is totally unreachable. Too many bits to transfer. So Beth can’t get her email except by going to the library.

And even with my 4000 Mbps work connection, I’m stymied by lack of sound, and get only the video side of movies. Borrrrring.

Mike, I’ve lost the URL for downloadable movies.
Where’s that URL you sent? Somewhere buried in my gmail archives, I guess. If I can find the URL, I’ll download those intriguing movies at work and view them at home. (I hope the URL was on gmail, not netscape mail.) Then you’ll get some comments, but not until Monday or Tuesday. I’d love to send some contributions, but I just can’t.

Anybody can surf over here and download the insync, unpixelated, Quicktime versions of most of the movies I’ve posted. But, rakkity, Friday we shipped a custom-made DVD especially for you and the Mrs., though some of what you aren’t seeing are culled from youtube’s now vast library of user posted movies. This one is the movie “Ghost” with “Unchained Melody,” and the one before it is another from my childhod, “He’s a Rebel” sung by The Crystals

I can’t look at Patrick Swayzee (sp) without thinking about the Saturday Night Live clip of he and Chris Farley auditioning for Chippendales. I’ll try and find the clip and post it. Hilarious.

That was a classic from SNL. I hope you find it.

I can hear it, but I can’t see it. Why is that?
