Campfire

How is this for an accurate title?

HaHa you liar – you told Debbie the camera wasn’t on! I think the majority of the time you were filming we were unaware of it.. very tricky.

Will someone please jump, already! Geez … With that much leading dialogue and that background soundtrack, this level of shaggy dog failure to deliver must seem intolerable to anyone who didn’t have the counterbalancing payoff of proximally regarding the actually-quite-impressively hot pyre (which even to one who was there seems here dismissably diminished by the wide-angle remove — a wide-angle recording device, BTW, that wasn’t on …).

There are two parts of this video that I almost edited out. The first, noted by both Hil K and Adam, was my bald faced lie. Although, that doesn’t bother me all that much because everyone knows I’m a liar and everyone knows I’ll do most anything for a good blog entry. The second one, however, came before the lie. That’s when I asked Debbie and Drew to flip around in front of the fire (no need for wet hair) with the implied, if you want to flip over the fire, I won’t mind. And that one only bothers me because Debbie’s parents might hear it and then begin to wonder what kind of chaperone’s in charge of their daughter.

Soon they too will learn what most people know – Adam and I enforce almost no rules and that’s why we get to go on these camping trips.

Yeah, I was skulking around the abdication (never mind the “egging-on”) issues, though I do recall discussing with “Debbie Cakes” (beg pardon, but the log entry with that name rocks) the serious pitfalls of her suggestion of a gainer …
And pleading lead-by-example doesn’t really cut it either, because
a) we’d have to be doing something exemplary, and
b) they’d have to notice …

The lie and the duplicitous “not necessarily over the fire” sort of admonition suprise no one. What does surprise is that you made us wait so long for no payoff. How come there is no inserted upsidedown Michael flipping over the flames?

I love it. Of course, it helped that I read the comments first, so I didn’t need to watch it twice thinking that I’d missed the flip, or anything.

As to how it compares with mine? (Btw, I only saw the question because my eyes wandered in the middle of the video because NOTHING WAS FREAKING HAPPENING) In how many dimensions does one compare fires? I’d say this was about twice as big in every conceivable direction, so 8x the heat and 16x the impact, because surely fires have 4 dimensions, at least. But since the wide-angle-recording-device-that-was-not-on minimized the fire I’m probably off by a factor in each direction so we’re talking yours is 128x bigger. See why it upsets me when my sister calls me a pyro?

That fire was awesome. Bigger than any fire I ever set. How long did the embers last? Maybe they’re still going?

My worry is that they are still going. I’m comforted knowing the pit is three feet deep.

What was the point of that video?

What do you mean 3 feet DEEP? There are 3 more feet of fire we don’t see below ground level? Now I am worried about you trying to goad them into acrobatics!

I am glad Drew didn’t do a backflip over the campfire…
He’s had some bad experiences with fire

My favorite was Adam’s ‘you might want to wet your hair’ aside.

Mine too.

I might have said, “With lighter fluid.”
