I’m pretty sure this is our twenty-second wedding anniversary, but since I broke my finger I haven’t been able to wear my wedding ring on which the date is inscribed. Although without an electron microscope I wouldn’t be able to read it anyway. I’m going to trust my intuition…met in ’69…moved into her bedroom in ’70…bought our house in ’83 …married in ’84……Matt born in ’86 …put out to pasture in ’09.

I love you Diane.

Was thinking it, but decided not to say it, Goose. While Michael and Diane did not become parents until ’87, they did become godparents in ’86….

I was simply checking on the level of attention paid to the blog. It meets my critical standards.

I knew you’d claim that, Michael!

yea, i knew as well that he would make some false claim as to the reasons he did not know when his one and only child had been born.

Did I ever tell my rat story here?

About 10 years ago we had a white rat that we liked, named Most Awesome Rat, MAR for short.

As it happens, La Gata (not La Chica, but my other daughter) Cat’s birthday is in March; March 22nd, to be exact.

One day, about a week after we’d gotten over MAR’s inevitable death (I thought), while driving around town, the girls and I noticed a vanity plate and began to discuss vanity plates generally. La Gata commmented that if she ever got a vanity plate, she would have it say M-A-R-2-2. I wondered where the other 21 rats would come from, and why she wouldn’t pick more interesting other names for them, so I asked, “Why?”

I don’t think I will ever live down “forgetting her birthday”.

Cat’s approach was ever so much more polite than mine at a similar age. If I remember correctly, I threatened to leave home and not return until my mother patted me on the head and apologized.

“Never living it down” was basically euphemistic for needing to repeatedly apologize on bended knee and to buy I-can’t-remember-what-all, AND being criticized and made fun of for months.
