  1. Why does Diane look alone everywhere she goes with Michael? (Not lonely, mind you — just alone … ). There’re the obvious technical reasons, of course, but there’s also the matter of eye contact, or rather, the lack thereof. Gives a casual voyeuristic quality to these interludes …

So Pop Art is surfing bell bottoms’ coattails into a renaissance of its own? At least, in Portland, maybe … ? And should one read anything into the narrator/observer’s lack of commentary? Like, “if you can’t say anything nice …”?

  2. Even if there’d been anyone else in the building, and besides a caretaker of two there were not, I’d of done an Adam and filtered them out. This photo didn’t have the drama intended, maybe because, as usual, I got too close. I believe it to be all student art which always lives in that town named Hit Or Miss.

And alone again? As in The Bar of Chocolate? There sat only one other couple at the bar when we arrived, but they left shortly after I ordered my roast beast and horseradish sandwich. Sarah, the owner, bemoans her patronless lunches. She attracts a good-sized evening crowd – by osmosis – but her location in that alleyway next to hot nightspots, leaves her delectable dishes sampled by too few. What she needs is a website and a smiling guy with a sandwich board. If you create a creative graphic, I’ll assemble a website and offer it to her.
