Last night was a night
For the constellations
Slept with the window open
The cold sky on my cheek
Watched the earth turn towards the sun’s
Light, moving down every edge of Tantalus
And across the Ko’olau peaks
And the grey dawn shade to blue
Standing not too far from that cow trough; the view across the valley. I’m afraid rakkity is going to tell me this glacier is mostly gone.

It’s impossible to be sure, since I don’t know exactly where this picture was taken, but I belive the ice that appears to be pouring down close to the pastures is long gone. I was in the Lauterbrunnen valley (not far from Grindelwald) two years ago, and there were no ice falls within a 1000 (maybe 2000) vertical feet of the pastures. Try Google-imaging for Swiss alpine pictures, and check the dates, I think you’ll see that’s universally true in the Alps. This may be the reason Europeans unanimously believe in global warming–they see the evidence on every hike in the mountains.
