But wait…am I seeing a coat and gloves on your teenager in the snow. I’m impressed. One of mine went sledding in pajamas yesterday, while another chose to go out in sneakers with no hat or gloves. Could it be that Matt has common sense. When will this happen?

Yes, yes! I have experienced this little problem plus others to hairy and numerous to mention.

Our little Patrick, now 24 and living on his own, still goes out barefoot to pick up the paper, winter or summer, when he’s staying at our house. I do believe he wears shoes when he goes snowboarding, however. Just recently we had to return his coat to him a week after he went back to his own digs. Who knows what he wore to work last week. (Not that it’s really cold here in MD, of course.)

One wonders if the coat Matt is wearing to dig his car out might be the handsome dress leather jacket Santa threw down the chimney at Matt’s father for Christmas 2003.
