Reflections in\u00e2\u20ac\u00a0night’s window block my view.<\/p>\n
They were there by day, just invisible.<\/p>\n
What is outside is still there, just not seen.<\/p>\n
Such balance<\/p>\n
shapes what is available to us.<\/p>\n
And what I see through this window (when I can see)<\/p>\n
is not all there is,<\/p>\n
but it shapes my perception<\/p>\n
as the frame of a camera describes a worldview.<\/p>\n
“Careers are limiting” said Michael,<\/p>\n
and of course he’s right —<\/p>\n
in that we will do what we will do<\/p>\n
and no more.<\/p>\n
But the things we do<\/p>\n
expose us to what we come to know.<\/p>\n
Were our actions other, we’d be too.<\/p>\n
Is there always more to more?<\/p>\n
Are there not paths that<\/p>\n
in leading inwards,<\/p>\n
expand?<\/p>\n
To know something well from one perspective<\/p>\n
can be limiting.<\/p>\n
But to know that point of view at all<\/p>\n
is a gift.<\/p>\n
To know knowledge, however thorough, deep and vast, to be finite,<\/p>\n
is to come to a field<\/p>\n
rich with life.<\/p>\n
All the blossoms of that field are beyond one’s picking.<\/p>\n
And to find one’s limitations,<\/p>\n
measured against\u00e2\u20ac\u00a0such multitude,<\/p>\n
may be daunting.<\/p>\n
May be liberating.<\/p>\n
But we are pickers,<\/p>\n
and we\u00e2\u20ac\u00a0walk this field.<\/p>\n
One is as fair as another.<\/p>\n
I am inside this window.<\/p>\n
What is outside is outside.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow will come,<\/p>\n
and tonight’s separation will have no relevance,<\/p>\n
