It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s late afternoon, Kate calls needing a ride home and Emma\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s my navigator as we wend our way through the back roads.  <\/p>\n<p>As pure dialogue, this conversation sounds morbid. It wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t at all.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153My birthday is in five days?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Five days? I thought your birthday was in May?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n<p>I had no idea when her birthday was.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153No, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s January.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What are you going to be? Sixteen, seventeen?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153No, thirteen.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>That much  I did know. <\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Emma, Do you dream?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153No.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I mean, do you remember your dreams?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153No. Do you?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I used to remember them better than I do now.  I have a recurrent dream where I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m lost and I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know how to get where I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m going and sometimes I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even know where it is I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m going.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153My friend Molly had a dream that lasted three nights.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Three nights? What do you mean? Like she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d get up in the morning and then that night she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d take up where she left off?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yeah.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Wow. She should write it down. Do you know what it was about?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Did you see The Dawn of the Dead?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yes.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It was like that&#8230; .\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153With dead people crawling out of graveyards?<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Dead people that were infected. One of them crawled through a dog door.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153And died?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153He was already dead. The good guys didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think he could crawl through the dog door but he did.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153And he killed the good guy.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Yeah.  I died in the third dream.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153How did you die?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t remember.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Spurred on, perhaps, by our discussion, I scored a trifecta this morning. In one dream I was lost AND I was running in molasses.
