But damn is she somethin’ — Kaki King<\/a> —\u00c2\u00a0<\/a>We just watched “August Rush”, whose contrived plot is almost as unbearable as the beauty\u00c2\u00a0of the undiluted love and music, which are transportive in places, however saccharine at times.\u00c2\u00a0The\u00c2\u00a0actors are all really musicians, save for the main character, who actually played his pieces\u00c2\u00a0though was overdubbed and had hand-double moments all by this woman Kaki King, a white girl\u00c2\u00a0from Atlanta.\u00c2\u00a0 Simply amazing.\u00c2\u00a0 No video of hers quite captures the movie’s magic, but if you like\u00c2\u00a0it, noodle about after her;\u00c2\u00a0 it’s worth it.\u00c2\u00a0 And the joy on the boy character’s face at his creating this\u00c2\u00a0music seems utterly genuine, his faking\u00c2\u00a0the fingering\u00c2\u00a0as real as any faker I’ve ever seen (because\u00c2\u00a0it IS real — to a point) — which may sound like damning with faint praise but is entirely other;\u00c2\u00a0 give\u00c2\u00a0him more than the 6 months it took him to learn this\u00c2\u00a0from scratch and he probably could play it for\u00c2\u00a0real for real …\u00c2\u00a0 Wowza.<\/div>\n
