The Mainecourse.com website chronicles camping trips by a core group of friends, little changed over twenty-five years. My brother-in-law came up with the name because all these annual fall trips are in Maine, and he believes our chief activity is eating.

These friends – my friends – not only camp together, but also share work days on one another’s houses. Before the proliferation of blogs, this blog began as an online journal describing my working with one of these guys ( Adam ) to build an addition to his house. When I adapted that journal to blog software and needed a title, I used the familiar mainecourse, which to me symbolizes our community spirit.

Though I’m the engine of maintenance and principal author, there are many contributors.
