Happy Mother’s Day

Jennifer will have to help me here, but I think: her sister, her mother( Nancy), Jennifer, unknown, Jennifer’s grandmother. I’m guessing the baby in Jennifer’s arms is her eldest daughter.

e.e. cummings – i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

A lyrical outpouring, surely much appreciated by the mothers of this day, and a poem I’d never heard. But I’ll bet that picture — well-composed and of riveting contrasts — was even more beautiful before you sharpened it into stone flowers.

Whatever, Happy Mothers Day!!! to HO, Flo, Diane, Patti, Chris, Jennifer, Ginger, Jan, Linda, Tess and Tricia.

I wanted stone flowers. Otherwise I’m posting the same photo I’ve posted eight zillion times.

And a fine image it is — didn’t say I didn’t like it — just that, been-there-done-that or not, I imagined the original to be fab. But in the spirit of playing with the new, I “framed” your stone flowers for you (a la Kibbe):

My favorite lines:
“..this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart”

A mother’s love: “the sky of the sky of a tree called life” . I love this poem. Thanks Adam for the wishes.

You guys spend more time using Photoshop than you do photographing!

They look terrific as a thumbnail, but not as wallpaper, unless…

Ooooooooh…….!!! Riffing on Mikey’s tame departure from the literal, or Adam’s trite homage to same, rakkity scores big!

Ooooh, I’m thinking I’m going to get savaged…
but here is the original: mainecourse.com/common/mike/original_grey.jpg

But why savage a savage? Seems so pointlessly redundant…

The original blows away the excerpt. A bit centered for my taste, but a lovely palette of colors, and so alive. What’d that absolutist black denial-of-relation background ever get anybody?
