They're Off
Matt and Debbie’s plane left left at 5:27 PM.
The Movie version. (13MB QT)
Youtube version is quite clear.
I shot much more video of Matt and Debbie’s personal wander through security than I displayed in the movie, but finally they vanished from sight. Which was sad but also good because I really had to use the nearby bathroom. As I hurried across the tile floor my cell phone rang. I could see it was Debbie’s number.
“Yes?â€
“Did they get you dad?†Matt asked.
“Did who get me?â€
“The cops. I heard them say ‘Security risk, man with a video cam.’ They meant you.â€
“Awesome.â€
“What do you mean awesome?â€
“I don’t know what I mean, but no, they didn’t get me. I’m here hiding in the bathroom.â€
The trip to and through Logan was otherwise uneventful. Matthew is an efficient machine which is why long ago I decided the best course was to plant a hand on his shoulder and let him lead the way. The only hiccough occurred when Debbie tried to pass her cargo bag off as carry-on luggage. The ticket agent looked sympathetically as Debbie tried to squeeze it into what resembled a tot’s grocery shopping cart – the device used to gauge the size of your bag. It almost fit and would have had she sat on it, but it turned out for the better because it was checked right on through to Venice which would expedite their connecting-plane dash in Paris.
Their plane landed at 9:21 AM (3:31 AM our time)
Bon viaggio Mateo e Debora! I’m lacking some QT plug-in and had to make do with the pixelated Google slideshow version, but the music came through clearly on both. Such sentimentality, Mikey … !
And saved by the call of Nature! So like you to run so innocently ( ? ) afoul of authority …

Loved this. And how clever are you with the “Passing Through Security” screen. Well done, Mikey!

Good to know about the “carry on”. Caroline leaves tomorrow and I am hoping also that her bag counts as carry on. You are allowed two if I am not mistaken? She leaves tomorrow night at 10:00 PM our time (which worries me…how do those pilots see overnight anyway?) and arrives 11:00 AM Stockholm time. She will spend the night in Stockholm then it is a 3 hour bus ride to her destination, Karlsgard, the next day. She therefore needs to travel very light as she will be lugging her bags around all day and bringing them on the subway system.
Have you heard from them yet? Your film was fun to watch but also just made me very anxious.

What about wheels?
And how about this, La Rad? When asked if she could fly to Sweden did it ever occur to you to just say no?
We haven’t heard a word.

Our youngest (also oldest) daughter is also a heavy bag carrier. On our recent trip, her carry-on bag weighed more than my checked luggage. No way would it compress into one of those tiny boxes used to calibrate your carry-on. Luckily for her, American AL doesn’t care hpw much cabin space you use up. And unluckily for her, American let her carry it through miles of corridors at Heathrow & Budapest.
I feel like I’m in a time warp here. Is this before or after our trip?

I’m in the time warp with you. Are you back home? Leaving for Grok Hill soon would force me to presume so. But then I’d have to ask where are the photos? In the lost camera?
I passed Lee’s latest book “The Hard Way” to Adam. Once he’s finished we’ll burro it to Bowie.
