Matt and Zipper

Diane’s repeated Matt’s iPhone story to most of our friends, and I’ll never be able to tell it as well, so I won’t strive for her level of detail. The short form : Matt’s in is Comparative LIterature class, first day, and his professor asks all the students to tell him who their favorite author is and which book they liked most by that author. As the trail winds around the room Matt slips his iPhone out of his pocket, Googles the professor, finds his latest book, and, well, you know what happened next.

Adam and I both thought of Matt after reading this morning’s Doonesbury.

  1. Matt could have been in big trouble if the teacher asked what chapter he liked best.

    So what did happen next?

When I read that Doonesbury cartoon this morning, I asked, “Where can I get that ventriloquist feature?”

  2. I thought I was one of your friends. (But then, I thought rakkity was one too. And I did know you have more than 4 friends, so maybe you HAVE told most of us.) In any case, finish the story, please. Some of your friends want to hear the rest. (But leave Matt’s name out, in case the professor regularly googles students before giving grades.)

  3. Matt confessed that he had yet to read his professor’s own book. And the author he did choose happened to have gone to grad school with his teacher. Small world.
