To Susan and/or Diane: I am so glad you’re there with your sister! Enjoy.

As Pooh might say:
Being with your sister, laughing for no reason whatsoever, making snow angels; that’s how it is supposed to be, you know.

Beautiful. It’s so great to see snow angels. A good dumping still makes me happy inside. My mom always made snow ice cream. For those who are still brave enough to eat what falls from the atmosphere, here’s the recipe:
Snow Ice Cream
1 very large bowl
1 back yard
A lot of sugar
Some milk
About a 1 teaspoon vanilla
Go to your back yard. Pick an undisturbed location away from trees and dust the top 2 inches of snow off. Scoop your very large bowl into the snow until it is overflowing. Note: Do not scrape your bowl too deep to the ground unless you are making Mud Ice Cream which is a whole different receipe.
Bring your snow inside (take off your boots or your mom will yell) and dust the top of the snow with the sugar. Working quickly as indoor heat is your enemy, pour in some of the milk and fold snow over and over trying not to loose too much over the edges. The milk helps reduce the bulk of the snow. Add more milk until it is the right consistancy, (right is relative as some like it milkshake-y and others prefer it sorbet-y.)
Lastly, add the vanilla, more or less depending on your taste. Some like almond or orange extract, but that is sacralige in my mom’s home.
Enjoy in front of your favorite cartoons.

In Minnesota we make snow ice cream by pouring some warm maple syrup over a packed bowl of clean snow. It is the perfect food for perfect snow angels!

I love it! Gorgeous pictures. Hot toddies anyone?
adam
Never had snow ice cream of any sort — the things you miss growing up near the equator … But it IS great to see people frolicing in what others merely consider hardship! Party on, sisters! Enjoy the soft white peace!

I’ll try that recipe next time it snows here. Being a poor kid from Los Angeles, I never had snow ice cream. And later in Maryland, who knows what kind of stuff falls from the sky with the snow, so it’s good I never tried it there. But the Colorado mountain snow is probably pretty pure.

I know a Toddie who’s not all that hot.
Susan, do I have Christmas photos of Flo making angels in the snow at Columbia Heights? I know I have them of your cuz.
