Reaping the Benefits

Image repeated from the July 03, 2003 addition log entry, the day Mike, Matt and Robby insulated our sunroom. In this recent spate of subzero weather, the room has still been comfortable to inhabit. The radiant heat in the floor helps (mostly just keeps the tile from feezing our feet), but the quality of the insulation is paramount. Thanks, Mike!!!!!

  1. Normally I discourage, and am suspicious of, homeowners recording my work. I envision paper proof trails for future law suits. “The insulation doesn’t meet Boca’s non-crammed-in specs for 14.5″ rafter spacing in hip roofs, and that’s why the interior temperature is 2.5 degrees cooler than it should be.”

But darned if it isn’t me who recorded all of this. Brings back pleasant memories of threats on my life, if ever I were to employ those boys for another insulating job.

Glad to hear the space is warm and cozy. I arranged a three family dinner tonight that includes both those boys, and I’ll pass on your compliments.

  3. I think the contractor was pretty clear that “those boys” did the work. His “my work” at the beginning is generic, meant to refer only to the continuum, not that nasty yellow stuff in this specific space (though be honest — without his instruction, the process would not have been the same). And I’m clear, too, on your contribution, and we thank you.

I hope you can check out the finished space someday (if you haven’t already), listen to some tunes on my poor substitute for the monsters now residing in your bedroom and tell me how much better it WOULD have sounded………
