I’ve got a better question. What exactly are in those glass candleholders on the table? o.O

What do you suppose Diane is saying that has Mark and Ginger so absorbed?

Not Starbucks — our local supermarket’s house French roast. Not English, either…….
The candleholders have faux-holly-berry-wreath rings and the barest nubs of red tapers.
It’s actually Ginger, in full discourse, who has everyone else rapt — including Diane, whose head appears to me quizzically cocked in attention. But conversation ebbed and flowed — I could be wrong…..

NOT Starbucks Coffee?! EEkk. Such interesting conversation with only brand X coffee? Think of how deeper your conversations would be if you had suberb coffee to help stimulate your thoughts?

For someone with “pete” in their “handle” (not quite “Peet”, I’ll grant), your allegiance to one of the world’s most overpriced, overmarketed brands is of debatable merit. Our conversation was hummin’ on good coffee, thank you. This was no “brand X” brew and was generally pronounced superb by a gathering of pretty discriminating individuals (who didn’t have to mention our coffee at all, easygoing bunch that we are). Not to be agressively defensive about our coffee, just touchy about that bloated retail engine being held too strongly as a (much less “the”) standard…. What’s up — you got stock?

Drop those dukes, Adam. Coffee Boy is Dan’s son, Jim, manager of a Starbucks in Tampa (I think). Better to mention, as I will now, that there is room under my tree for two pounds of decaf espresso.(Jim, I just read Greg’s last blog entry and your reply.)

Damn. I always pick fights with the wrong people. But whad’ya have to go and identify me for, Mike? At least I had a prayer at anonymity before……. Don’t get me wrong, I like and (occasionally) patronize [those stores], but, well…….. Oh hell, the horse is dead already, the goose well onto overdone……….

Coffee Boy, what about commenting on the clean, elegant decor instead? (for context, go here .)
Nice, huh? Especially for straight people!
