Helen Virginia O’Connell
My mother told me that when she was four her father and a friend of his were outside arguing. I don’t remember the man’s name or what the spat was about , but the friend, in jest, raised his fist in a threatening manner. As men do. Helen Virginia O’Connell promptly picked up a rake and said, “I’m Hennie Bo Jennie Ocono and if you hit my father I’ll hit you.â€
Hennie Bo Jennie put her rake down yesterday at noon.
‘Bout as sweet and rockin’ an au revoir as possible. Bravo. ‘Bye HO … We’ll miss you.

Hennie Bo Jennie always had great stories, frontierswoman that she was. I love that she was so forward thinking. I am so glad I ‘met’ her last summer at your house (via your computer).

It may be too late to wish HO safe passage … but I do anyway. Thank you so much for sharing her with us, Michael. And note that we are interested in anything else you might have to say on her life or death.
