Lassen

Hey Mike,

Last weekend I climbed (red) to the top of a volcano and skied down (green).

  1. Trying to squeeze a visit in before May 22nd? Although I don’t think volcanoes pay attention to 93rd anniversaries.

What is the cone-headed door in fatigues?

  2. Like Jennifer, I don’t know what that camo’ed metallic, missile shaped thing is, but I’m pretty sure those are your father’s footprints.

  3. Sweet looking trip, Trav! And it looks like you were under your own power even getting to your climbing locale! I’ll bet the ratio of time up to time down well exceeds 10, though …

  4. I believe the green phallic thing is a snow sensor.

The bear footprints were about 100 yards from where we camped and obviously made the day before.

We drove the ~200 miles. The bike was along for the ride as three of us came from Davis with a bike and one from tahoe. Two of us went back to Davis and the bike went to tahoe.

It took me about 5 hours to get up and about 30 minutes to get down. I think it’s about 4000 feet of elevation and a 9 mile round trip.

  5. Travis, Peter tells me he’s climbed that volcano in warmer weather.
