Another Weekend At The Beach

Two tall guys, one of whom looks like a young Max Von Sydow, are playing ping pong on the porch of the Chappaquiddick Community Center while Diane reads and I upload this and check my email. It’s the nearest WiFi hotspot to Richard and Jacquie’s house. We’re all here for the weekend, with Steven and Karen and their two children, basking in the sun, swimming in the warm ocean and eating home grown tomatoes with fresh basil. Among other things.

The skies have cleared since yesterday’s fog and rain, and last night’s more-than-half moon remains visible in today’s blue sky. I’m listening to a biplane buzzing overhead, and feeling cool breezes at my back, and wondering how we can be stringing one perfect weekend away after another. Next up? Bailey Island with Adam and Tricia.

  1. I’m glad to see “Jacquie.” Based on my student population, the name Jacqueline seems to have been more popular 10 – 15 years ago than it was 20 – 25 years ago, but they all shorten it to “Jackie” now.

After having hugged my niece from California who is off to Brown hello and goodbye, and driving Zeke to Smith for his final year, I’m home checking student lists and making lesson plans. I’d rather be at the beach … although I did have homegrown tomatoes and fresh basil (among other things) for lunch.

  2. One more great gallery of what appears to be another friend-filled idyllic weekend. Too bad your cellphone cut out just when I might have gotten a verbal rendition.

  3. Glad you’re still climbing seaside roofs! Interesting light, too, in 0025 and “The ferry in front of us”. There’s a lovely indolence pervading all these images.
