I like Robby’s pointed rant about the bossy fish woman.
And, no, I don’t name things. I’d be saying “hey you” if Diane hadn’t intervened and given our son a name.
Our son & girlfriend copped similar attitude from a dog shelter woman when they were trying to adopt their dog, Jake. Mistrustful, haughty, derisive. But try to see it from their point of view a little — probably no pet animal dies as frequently as fish, typically by suffocating in a diseased and/or poisoned environment, and we as a species abuse and euthanize more dogs than bears contemplation, so wanting to assure a good home seems to me a prerequisite for a good seller of lives. But HOW one communicates one’s own passion is always the trick, isn’t it … ?
I think that it’s a lovely environment. And what a wonderful thought from those boys. They are leaving a little love behind when they go off to school. Hilary leaves on Wednesday the 29th and will take Simon the Betta fish with her.
The bit about paying people to visit is priceless … ! Have you given your ichthyic friends names … ?
