Road Trip
Hi Mike,
Beth & I are taking advantage of my current 2-week respite from doctors to visit the SF Bay area for 3 days. The pano is shot from the Space Science Lab atop Grizzly Peak on the UCB campus (where I’m working). I’m trying to get a good sunset picture from this great vantage point. Yesterday the weather was mostly cloudy, but today is as clear as a typical Colorado day, cerulean skies and all.
On Saturday, Beth and I will drive down the coast to Simi Valley, where we’ll visit my dad for a week. We’ll try to send more pics, perhaps of nice vineyards full of Pinot Noir grapes.

That is beautiful and impressive. Have a good rest of your respite.
Rakkity, I have another question. I try to check out the APOD every now and then, and for the last few days I’m being forbidden access. Do you know anything about that? I don’t mean that like “The cake I made for my knitting group is gone, do you know anything about that?” I just thought you might have experienced a problem or heard they were going to a subscriber-only service or something.

Jennifer’s in a knitting group? (Sorry. I’m in a silly mood today.)

Jennifer, as far as I know, APOD never restricts access. Could it be your own computer has gotten confused and thinks that APOD is a purveyor of viruses?
Try these other links:
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/lib/aptree.html
http://zuserver2.star.ucl.ac.uk/~apod/apod/
http://www.astro.cz/apod/
If you get the same rejection from all, you must have a problem in your own computer.

I didn’t make a cake and I don’t have a group, but I have, in fact, taken up knitting … and I love it.

Thanks, Ed. I don’t know what was wrong; I tried several times, several ways, before I asked for help, but that worked.

Jennifer, I just noticed this message on APOD:
The main APOD web site experienced serious problems this weekend, but has now been restored.Sorry, and thanks for your patience and concerned emails! – eds.
So you can cancel your computer repair and go on browsing as usual!
