  1. Bombastic, lip-synching rock-n-roll pageantry, avec lispy, falsetto overbite. I’ll grant their staying power, but outside of Bohemian Rhapsody, I never much cared for Queen (whom I think I once saw in a quadruple bill with Starcastle, Journey and Foreigner at St. Louis’ Keil Auditorium circa 1976). All testosterone aggression but without metal’s meanness.

Do I slight a treasured memento, oh blogmeister, or just a random YouTube nugget?

  2. I too saw Queen probably the same time as Adam. When I saw them the very great Thin Lizzy opened for them. I liked Queen a lot in the late 70’s though they don’t evoke too much now when I hear them. Freddy Mercury did have a presence. Tight pants, very tight pants, that’s what I remember.

  3. Remember when I told you I’d pleaded with Diane to dress up as Margo and she turned me down?

Coming from F.Mercury, I’d say that’s high praise. Coming from someone who’s already said these videos are the weakest part of the blog, higher still.

  4. I’m astounded at Adam’s ability to recollect names, places, and music quality from that mind-bending, acid-soaked, doobie-breathed epoch of the 70s.
