I’ll grant their staying power, but outside of Bohemian Rhapsody, I never much cared for Queen (whom I think I once saw in a quadruple bill with Starcastle, Journey and Foreigner at St. Louis’ Keil Auditorium circa 1976). All testosterone aggression but without metal’s meanness.

I too saw Queen probably the same time as Adam. When I saw them the very great Thin Lizzy opened for them. I liked Queen a lot in the late 70’s though they don’t evoke too much now when I hear them. Freddy Mercury did have a presence. Tight pants, very tight pants, that’s what I remember.

Coming from F.Mercury, I’d say that’s high praise. Coming from someone who’s already said these videos are the weakest part of the blog, higher still.
I’m astounded at Adam’s ability to recollect names, places, and music quality from that mind-bending, acid-soaked, doobie-breathed epoch of the 70s.
