Adam Checks In
So we found a place with a card reader — let me know how the attached come through (shrunken with Microsoft Paint, whatever that is).
We took a bus to Siena today, which was beautiful but even more of a ripoff for unwary tourists than Firenze. Glad to be back. Tomorrow we climb the Duomo (we hope) buy some last stuff, and Friday we fly to Brussels. We’re there all day Saturday and fly home Sunday via New York, arriving in the neighborhood of 4:30.
The weather sucked yesterday, which gave us a good excuse to do little and retire to our hotel room to read and nap. A nice dinner out, the evening ambling abbreviated by iffy weather. Today was supposed to be a big adventure, somewhat soured by tourist trapping.
We may or may not check in one last time before leaving, or possibly from Brussels.
Take care!

Yummy…all of it…the sights, the food, the naps…just yummy.

But what is this constant yapping about all the walking they are doing? Let’s face it, if God didn’t want Adam to walk, he wouldn’t have given him feet.

Complaints, complaints, complaints. Here’s this guy strolling through Tuscan achitechtural delights, savoring spectacular cappuchinos and tarts, sipping great wines, and he complains about being tired?
Take some pictures from the top of the Duomo!

I wouldn’t say any of that was complaining, just honestly descriptive. When you’re a sedentary office worker and find yourself walking 8 hours a day, the body protests … But the twisty turny oldwolrld alleys are indeed wonderful, rakkity, and good food and wine at every side when one needs a lift.
We DID climb the Duomo, in a blessed interval of nobody else (relatively speaking — us and a dozen others). Every other morning there was a line around the block. The view between the domes was incredible, the glimpses through the small openings tantalizing, the last ascent impressive, and the 360 degree view unprecedented. I took images to attempt a panorama — stay tuned.
We’re off for the aeroporto, then to Brussells. There for a day, home Sunday. Arrivederci tutti!

The man is gracious enough to add to the blog literate descriptive phrases and photos of his travels and all we do is pile on. It is funny, though, how little we all use our legs. I don’t know whether Matt was more impressed by the sights of Spain or the distances he walked. And I know if I have a multi-store shopping trip in a mall, I’ll shuffle my truck around rather than stroll those enormous interior distances.
Well, Adam, I’m sorry to say it, but I’m sorry you’re coming home. I so need someone else’s adventures to focus on. Who’s next? Birdbrain? What exotic land are you about to travel to? Rakkity? Isn’t it about time you climbed an Alp or two with a satellite connected, mini-helmet-cam strapped to your head?

Way to Adam! Glad to hear you made it up to the top of the Duomo. Those little glimpses out the windows really do draw you onward, don’t they.
Looking forward to the panorama. Have a good trip home.
Michael, you’ll soon receive some musings on my preparations to go work in Japan starting the end of this month. And while I’m there, I’ll be able to send stuff to the blog nearly every day. I’m already learning Japanese–
