Morning Has Broken

My mother (too many people are asking me why I call her Helen, or HO or Hey You) asked her friend, Dottie, if Dottie still had the tape recording in which she sang “Morning Has Broken” with her daughter, Evelyn. Dottie did not, but she got together with her friend, Pam, and together they recorded four songs. Dottie dropped them off yesterday and I transferred them from tape to computer. Here is the Cat Steven’s song (mp4 format). From her near permanent place in bed, it is now Helen’s (okay, I can’t stop) top request.

  1. So, so lovely. You tell Dottie this is my new favorite version of a song that I love. Your comic made me chuckle. I sent it to a couples therapist friend of mine.

  2. That’s the sweetest thing, for Dottie to do that for Helen … You go, girls!

But you’d better clarify your relevant points of reference with that cartoon — if Diane were to think your analogy is also the hair, we might have to learn to bake a cake so we can smuggle her in a file to circumvent 40-to-life for an appropriate but lethal use of a cast-iron frying pan …

  6. Ooooooh … So little circumspection … The only question now is whether the sound’ll be more of a Farr Academy 2×4 “thud”, or is Mike’s head hard enough (evidence points to “yes” … ) that the frying pan will actually make a nice “clang” … ?

  7. I’m figuring that she’s missing me so much that she’ll forgive just about anything I write. I can just see Diane waiting at the front door, arms open, smile on her face… .

  8. Beware hands out of sight behind backs … Practice ducking.

And why aren’t the email “address” html anymore (why doesn’t mouse rollover work … )?
