Friends

To paraphrase Matthew: “The blog is one happy place to be these days. Chest pains, dead bodies, depressing poems, and more dead people. Can’t you ligthen up?”

Does it get any cheerier than these photos taken at dinner last night? Though it looks like a comic book illustation viewed with 3-D glasses, be sure to click on the last link.

  1. Damn cheery, I’d say, and Mattman’s right — the weight of the extraBlog quite informs the intraBlog. Sorta logically inescapable, I suppose, but bravo for the breath of levity.

“Just friends”……… Really? I suppose there’s by now a de facto brother-sister thing, but such easy intimacy is a gift. Kudos.

  2. Speaking of lightening up…
Heaney has a Science Fiction poem.

    Lightenings vii

The annals say: when the monks of Clonmacnoise
Were all at prayers inside the oratory
A ship appeared above them in the air….

  3. The anchor dragged along behind so deep
It hooked itself into the altar rails
And then, as the big hull rocked to a standstill,…

  4. A crewman shinned and grappled down the rope
And struggled to release it. But in vain.
“This man can’t bear our life here and will drown.”

  5. The abbot said, “unless we help him.” So
They did, the freed ship sailed, and the man climbed back
Out of the marvelous as he had known it.

  6. My guess is the above might be called “intrablog” humor. Defined correctly or not, it is damn funny.

  7. The only ways that I know that rakkity and adam and michael are the same person in this case are:
    1. insider trading
    2. could somebody who last said, “hunh, do you know the way to St. Jose” come up with a segment of this poem?…No, no, no.

  8. Skeptic, reveal yourself. Who are you ((Now that I know you don’t know the way to San Jose.), and how is it that you are so much smarter than the rest of us?
