More Shoots
Chris Radulski is reading Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss, the best seller about punctuation, and the same book I thought IÃd get from my local library, except that I was the four hundredth in line. I hope IÃm next in line for ChrisÃs copy. Here, however, is a contrarian view which inspired this defense from the Guardian.

Louis Menand asks:
“Why would a person who is not just vague about the rules but disinclined to follow them bother to produce a guide to punctuation?”
I ask, why are there 401 people waiting to read this book?
Personally, when using the French keyboard, as I did about 8 times while sending messages to our kids from France 2 weeks ago, I gave up on punctuation altogether, because I couldnt find the apostrophe, and the period was SHIFTED>
And it didnt make any significant difference>
(George Bernard Shaw didnt use apostrophes either,
and managed to get published rather a lot>

Is there a picture of Bertha with more of her face and less than 4 feet? I too would like a bit more commentary from Mateo. Love Helen

bertha insists that she isnt “fotogenica” (photogenic). she only let us get a few of her, which is annoying but the truth. she was really beautiful though.
