The other day, Karen, ChrisÃs mom, introduced me to a family friend as ChrisÃs boss. I kinda like the sound of it, but you know times have changed since I was his age. If you told me to do something IÃd jump up, salute, click my heels and then run off to complete the task.
Nowadays, IÃm reminded of our friend Dan’s marriage to Linda. Dan brought one son to the marriage; Linda, two daughters. Her youngest daughter, Rebecca, at maybe five or six, sized-up this new authority figure and said, ìYou are not the boss of me.î ThatÃs pretty much how it is these days.
ìChris, could you please get the can of brown stain from the back of the truck? If you do IÃll buy lunch and give you a raiseî
ìWhat do you think I am? A dog and youÃre playing fetch?î
Yeah, I too thought that was a pretty snappy comeback, but I got that last laugh. Tomorrow I’ll explain how.
I hate the word “boss” and prefer supervisor. Boss indicates bossy and you’re not bossy. When I was a “boss” and was referred to as such I just HATED it. Look forward to hearing how you got the last word with this youngin.

On the other hand, the moniker boss deosn’t pussyfoot around looking for a softer PC pseudonym…
Fact is, when you’re the accountable one, you are the boss…and a good one at that.
I say call a spade a spade.

I say “fire him”. If he doesn’t learn to jump up and salute now…when will he? Kid must have been raised by wolves….
