Caroline's Art

marley_w_sm.jpg

Caroline gave me permission to post more of her work. Take a peek.

The magnolia trees are in bloom, the jonquils are up and the forecast is for sunny skies and temperatures in the seventies. We just finished with breakfast: scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, coffee and sort-of-fresh cherry pie (from Idylwilde). Now most of us are taking naps.

How is this for a maudlin update?

The orange trees are in bloom, the wisteria is flowering, and the forecast is for blue skies and temperatures in the 30s (celsius) in Sevilla.

Which sounds a lot like Evansville, except for the language, the coffee with fresh croissants, the wine, the bread, the tapas, the marbled plazas, the parades, the dancing, the music, the towering cathedral, the tiled arches, the history, and a few other minor differences.

The trees here are forlorn stick figures but fantasizing Spring, the gray skies are weeping drizzle, and the thermometer's stuck between winter and spring. Almost like Evansville or La Sevilla, except not. At all.

Impressive breadth of styles, Caroline! Lots of color and passion, and differing techniques. I particularly like the self-portrait with you rendered as Latina, and the energy (barbed wire) trees -- gonna see how much Mr. Downing would actually offer for it, or just decline him, but gratefully?

I forgot to mention the chirping birds.
Now when do we get the first rakkity travelogue installment?

Me? I'm fond of all of C's work, but her version of Bob Marley floors me. I'm thinking of commissioning her to do an interpretative of my own son.

Oh! Lovely of you all to say. Thank you Adam...I don't know how much Mr. Downing would pay for it! Such a flattering offer!

I am working on a mythological peice right now for my art class. The upper half of my creatures body is of a sultry Aphrodite while the lower half of her body morphs into a monster called Hydra. I don't like how it's coming out as of now. We'll see.

Ha, painting Matt!!!

Caroline, you absolutely blow me away. I cannot begin to imagine being able to pick up a tool and create with it some image I see in my head. Such a gift and so well used. Brava!

mr blogger: Incredibly artful rendition of Caroline's art!

ms artiste: Would $100 for Energy insult you?

I'm stuck on "in the 30s (celsius)". Don't you find that unpleasantly hot?** Low 20s, I like.

**I mean literally, not like the way Mike is gonna feel on his search for Brenda.

Tell this child to keep doing what she is doing and she'll be famous one day.

HO you're back!!!! You bring positive energy to the blog. Speaking of energy, thank you Dan. Thank you all for the compliments. They fuel her... to that end she needs to write an essay about why she wants to pursue art. I wish we could copy these and submit them. Brush to canvas comes much easier then pen to paper. Or fingers to keyboard.

Adam, did you see the last comment on your Black, White and Gold entry? You now have universal appeal. World Wide Web indeed!!!

I'm glad to hear from a smart Greek woman, it is cheering me up.

To science teacher--you're absolutely right, it isn't quite that warm yet in Sevilla. Mid 20's or so now, (it's supposed to reach 27C on Friday) but next month it'll go up to 30 and beyond. In late spring and thereafter, Sevilla is uncomfortably warm to us temperate-zoners!

Maybe I should just scan my scrawled travelogue and let the bloggers try to read it. I'm interpreting my scribbles as fast as I can, and I've got almost all of our pictures on the PC, but I'm still waiting for some more, which should be ready by noon. Then lots of editing, which has to pass the gimlet gaze of Mamacita Editor, and I can post the first installment of Iberia Bound.
