Dear shinydome,
This bench is about a hundred and twenty feet beyond what one would be able to walk, had the land owners not created, and then steadfastly maintained for the last twenty years, a bridge of sticks and leaves. The purpose? A better view?
More photos.
You must have a loooong extension cord, or are all your tools battery operated?
Posted by shinydome. Can anyone believe that I have never been to this site? It is closer to me than the railroad tracks. I hereby propose a Thanksgiving Day jaunt through the woods, on the sticks and leaves, to Michael's sea-level tree house. And then, another jaunt, the day that Susan arrives.
Love from the wife of the contractor.
Mostly batteries, but the final trimming of posts and floorboards required more than what I can get from my 18V Dewalt circular saw, so I ran four rather lengthy extension cords, scared every bog nesting duck within a mile radius, and then high tailed it out of there.
Posted by cordless.Boy, I wish I had had extension cords long enough to reach from some power source up to Grok Hill. We could have shaved a few months off the building time. On the other hand, I probably wouldn't still have all my fingers!
Posted by rakkitty.Ouch! That hurts. And I shouldn't joke with my moniker -- luckily, I still gots all 10.......
But as to electricity, I remember Mike and I felt a twinge of guilt the first time we took his cordless circ saw up Grok Hill and its brash shrill shattered the woody quiet. Now that's but a forgotten misgiving, fallen to the convenience and ease of it, after which there's no going back.
Nice aerie Mike, however low! It may be a swamp, but it's well regarded!
Posted by 9-1/2.And *I* propose a jaunt out to the Aerie after dessert tonight -- mitt flashlights.
(We've switched Thanksgiving dinner back to 2pm, as Greg is working the night shift tonight and so is joining us for T-day # 2 on Sunday instead).
